The weekend of September 18–20 in Gaeta is one of the busiest of the month: on Saturday and Sunday, the Gaeta Buskers Festival returns, this time joined by Frammenti MArteLive — thirty free events in the historic centre — and on Saturday evening there is Noemi in a free concert at Molo Santa Maria. Plus, two sights that won’t be around for much longer.
Times and locations are those provided by the organisers: for last-minute updates, always check the individual event page.
Weekend events
Friday 18
There are no events on the schedule. It is the perfect evening for the sights you might otherwise rush through over the weekend: the Bastione «La Favorita» is open from 17:00 to 20:00, and the Cattedrale with its Cripta can also be visited on Friday, from 16:00 to 17:00.
Saturday 19
- Frammenti MArteLive + Gaeta Buskers Festival — from 18:00 to 23:00, historic centre (Via Indipendenza, Piazza Goliarda Sapienza, Piazza Vincent Capodanno), free admission. It kicks off at 18:00 with the Street Parade di Ametè; at 18:30 Capitan Fracassato and the circus performance of Steam Duo; at 21:00 aerial dance by Gloriair and the acrobats of Afro Jungle Jeegs. Throughout the evening in the alleyways, dance, music, and street theatre.
- Noemi in a free concert — at 21:30, Molo Santa Maria, Gaeta Medievale.
Sunday 20
- Frammenti MArteLive + Gaeta Buskers Festival — from 18:00 to 23:00, free admission. Alongside the Street Parade, there is the Lestofunky street band; at 18:30 once again Capitan Fracassato and Steam Duo, at 21:00 Gloriair, and to close, at 23:15, the circus show by Godié.
All weekend long
- Mostra Marinara «Gaeta e il Mare» — Museo del Mare, Saturday and Sunday from 17:30 to 20:30. Open only on weekends and closing on September 27: only two weekends left.
- Porte Aperte al Patrimonio della Basilica Cattedrale — Cattedrale and Cripta daily, 10:30–12:30 and 16:00–17:00.
- Bastione «La Favorita» — Saturday and Sunday open until 22:00, free admission: one of the best sunset views over the gulf.
How to plan your Saturday
On Saturday, the festival and the concert overlap: the festival’s most spectacular performances are at 21:00, Noemi starts at 21:30, and between the squares of the historic centre and Molo Santa Maria it is about two kilometres — roughly a twenty-minute walk. To make sure you don’t miss anything:
- on Saturday, head to the festival early — Street Parade at 18:00, Capitan Fracassato and Steam Duo at 18:30 — and around 21:00 make your way towards Molo Santa Maria for Noemi;
- on Sunday, catch the evening festival performances: Gloriair at 21:00 and Godié at 23:15, which you would have missed on Saturday.
- The only real compromise is the acrobat troupe Afro Jungle Jeegs: they perform only on Saturday at 21:00, just when you’d be heading to the concert. If they are who you want to see, dedicate your Saturday to the festival.
The hour-by-hour schedule, complete with a map of the locations, is on the double weekend page; the full September program can be found in the guide to Gaeta Città dei Festival.
Before you go
The Gaeta weather forecast is updated in real time. If you’re driving, it’s worth checking the guide to parking and the ZTL (restricted traffic zone): with the festival in the historic centre and a concert at the port, nearby spots will fill up quickly on both evenings. If you also plan to hit the beach, you’ll find the full overview in the guide to the seven beaches.
