During Favole di Luce, there is one question every visitor asks: “Does the Fountain show in Piazza della Libertà take place every evening? And at what time?”
If you’re wondering the same, you’re in the right place.
Here at Scopri Gaeta, we have put together this practical guide with the essential information you need to make the most of the beating heart of the light displays: the magnificent Fontana di San Francesco.
1. When does the Fountain Show (Water, Lights, and Music) take place?
The main show, which combines water jets, music, and light displays, is the highlight of the evening. To avoid overcrowding the roads, it is not held every day.
During the 2025-2026 edition, the schedule was as follows:
- Every Saturday
- Every Sunday
- Public Holidays
- Start Time: 18:30
The show was therefore held only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and on public holidays.

2. Please Note: What time does the road close?
This is the second most important question, and it is directly linked to the first. To allow everyone to enjoy the show safely, traffic arrangements in the central area are modified.
- On show days (Saturday and Sunday): The Piazza della Libertà area and the adjacent road are closed to traffic at 18:30, coinciding with the start of the show.
Our insider tip: If you are arriving by car on the weekend, get there well in advance! Look for parking by 17:30/18:00 (for example at Ex Vetreria Avir or in Gaeta Medievale) to avoid getting stuck in traffic and enjoy the stroll toward the fountain.
3. What about the Light Installations? Are they on every day?
YES! This is key information for anyone visiting Gaeta on a weekday.
While the fountain show only takes place on weekends, all 27 light installations (including the Dinosaurs, the Whale, the Pandas, and the Fountain itself, which remains illuminated) are turned on EVERY DAY, from Monday to Sunday.
- Switch-on Time: The light installations are switched on every day at sunset, roughly between 17:00 and 17:30.
- Switch-off Time: They remain on until late at night.
So, if you visit Gaeta on a Tuesday, you won’t see the water and music show, but you will be able to enjoy the entire illuminated route with far fewer crowds!

Summary of the 2025-2026 Edition:
- Light Installations (All): Turned on EVERY DAY (from around 17:30).
- Fountain Show: ONLY on Saturday and Sunday, at 18:30.
- Road Closure: ONLY on Saturday and Sunday, from 18:30.
- Dance Performance: ONLY on Saturday, from around 18:30.
