The story
A theatre company is rehearsing a play by Pirandello when six strangers enter the theatre: they are characters born from the imagination of an author who left them halfway through, with their drama unfinished. They ask the theatre manager to become their new author and stage their story: a Father, a Mother, the Stepdaughter, the Son, the Adolescent, and the Little Girl, caught between separations, forbidden encounters, and a forced cohabitation. When the actors attempt to perform their roles, the characters do not recognise themselves: to them, that acting is false. Is it reality or fiction? It is one of the most performed plays in the world.
