Pizza & Birra Fest 2026 in Gaeta: programme from 30 October to 1 November

Postponed from 23-25 October: Pizza & Birra Fest takes place on Friday 30 October, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November 2026, still on Corso Italia and in Piazza dei Maestri Vetrai. Update of 25 October: the programme for the new evenings is out. Pizza Fest is back in Gaeta, and this year it brings beer. The second edition is called Pizza & Birra Fest – Una fetta di storia (a slice of history) and now runs, after the postponement, from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 along Corso Italia and in Piazza dei Maestri Vetrai. Three evenings of pizza, also gluten free, craft beer, round tables, books and show cooking, and in the evening the stage: Martufello on Friday 30, I Cugini di Campagna on Saturday 31 and Biagio Izzo on Sunday 1 November. The festival is organised with the support of Regione Lazio, ARSIAL, the Municipality of Gaeta and ATCL.

Friday 30 October

• 18:30 – The village opens.
• 19:00 – Round table. With Cristian Leccese, mayor of Gaeta, Alessandro Inserra, Pina Rosato and representatives of the sector. Moderated by Fabio Gallo, journalist and presenter of Linea Verde.
• 20:00 – Book: «Pizza (Re) Connection». Presentation of the book by Giusy Ferraina.
• 20:30 – Show cooking: traditional pizza. With Errico Porzio.
• 21:00 – Martufello, «50 anni di risate». Events area.

Saturday 31 October

• 18:00 – Round table (until 19:00). A discussion on food traditions with local administrators, producers and professionals. Moderated by Peppone Calabrese, journalist and presenter of Linea Verde.
• 20:00 – Book: «Calici e Spicchi». Presentation of the book by Antonella Amodio.
• 20:30 – Show cooking. With Alessandro Lo Stocco.
• 21:00 – I Cugini di Campagna and I Vico. Events area: concert by I Cugini di Campagna and the cover band I Vico, free admission.

Sunday 1 November

• 19:00 – Round table. With Cristian Leccese, mayor of Gaeta, Gianni Acampora, president of the Frosinone-Latina Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of the pizza world and local producers. Moderated by Giulia Capocchi, journalist and presenter of Linea Verde Sentieri.
• 20:00 – «Quale futuro per la pizza» (What future for pizza). With Lara De Luna, journalist at «Repubblica» and «Il Gusto».
• 20:30 – Show cooking. With Vincenzo Capuano.
• 21:30 – Grand finale: Biagio Izzo, «Un italiano di Napoli», and Grease’s Band. Events area: Biagio Izzo’s one man show, then a concert by Grease’s Band.

The evening guests

Friday 30 October at 21:00 Martufello, the comedian from Sezze who grew up with the Bagaglino company, with «50 anni di risate» (50 years of laughs). Saturday 31, Halloween night, from 21:00 I Cugini di Campagna, the band behind «Anima mia», and the cover band I Vico. Sunday 1 November the grand finale at 21:30 with Biagio Izzo and his one man show «Un italiano di Napoli», then Grease’s Band. Compared with the programme announced for 23-25 October, Martufello and I Cugini di Campagna have swapped evenings.

What’s new in 2026: craft beer, and pizza also gluten free

This year pizza is not alone: craft beer arrives, with the breweries Podere 676 and East Side. Dough and hops, oven and tap: two handmade crafts that meet. And there is gluten-free pizza, so the festival is truly for everyone. People with coeliac disease can ask the stands directly how it is prepared.

Why Gaeta: a slice of history

The festival name is not a slogan. In a document from 997, kept today in the diocesan archive of Gaeta and published in the Codex Diplomaticus Caietanus, the word «pizza» appears for the first time. It is the earliest known written record, linking this dish to Gaeta for more than a thousand years. Alongside pizza, the festival also celebrates local flavours: tiella, Gaeta olives and other typical products.

Getting there

Corso Italia is the main street of Gaeta, between Serapo and the harbour; Piazza dei Maestri Vetrai is the new square between Corso Italia, Via Serapide and the former Avir glassworks. For parking and the ZTL (limited traffic zone) read the Gaeta parking guide; from Formia and nearby towns there are Cotral buses.

The first edition (2025)

This section is about the past edition: the names below do not apply to 2026.

The first edition took place from 17 to 19 October 2025 in Piazza XIX Maggio, organised by the Municipality with the Pro Loco of Gaeta and the support of Regione Lazio and ARSIAL. At the ovens were Marco Quintili, Errico Porzio and Salvatore Lionello; in the evenings, a One Man Show with a surprise guest, a show by Vincenzo De Lucia and «La Notte delle Leggende del Rock» with Queen, Genesis and Pink Floyd tribute bands.
