In September, Parole in Scena returns to Gaeta with two evening events, set in one of the city’s most scenic spots: Molo Santa Maria, the small marina facing the old town. On Saturday, 5 settembre, Paolo Ruffini takes the stage, followed by Luisa Ranieri on Thursday, 10 settembre. Both evenings start at 21:15 and admission is free.
What is «Parole in Scena»
It is a series of cultural encounters featuring authors and performing arts personalities, created with a specific purpose: to shine a spotlight on the Complesso Monumentale della SS. Annunziata and its Cappella d’Oro — whose gilded coffered ceiling is featured on the festival posters. The idea is simple and effective: invite renowned names to places that truly deserve to be experienced, allowing visitors to discover the location while listening.
The festival started in July in Piazza Maestri Vetrai with Maurizio de Giovanni and ran throughout the summer. These two evenings bring it to a close. It is promoted by Regione Lazio, LAZIOcrea, and IRL — Istituti Riuniti del Lazio, with the collaboration of ATCL.
Saturday, 5 settembre: Paolo Ruffini
Actor, director, and television host Paolo Ruffini shares stories from his book «Io sono perfetto», in an event created in collaboration with «Libri sulla cresta dell’onda». It is a talk that blends humor and depth around contemporary social themes — the signature style Ruffini has cultivated for years, both on and off the screen.

Thursday, 10 settembre: Luisa Ranieri
Luisa Ranieri presents «Krisis — Nelle periferie dell’esistenza». It is worth explaining the project, as the title alone doesn’t tell the whole story: Krisis is an initiative by the cultural association Respiriamo Cultura from Itri, bringing together cinema, dialogue, and reflection — screenings of films such as Qualcuno volò sul nido del cuculo, Valzer con Bashir, and Io capitano, explored through the philosophy of Walter Benjamin — to give voice to lives that have remained unheard.

The Venue: Molo Santa Maria
Molo Santa Maria is the small harbor located just in front of Gaeta medievale (medieval Gaeta), between Punta dello Stendardo and Punta della Sanità: thirty boat berths, the historic town houses behind, and the open gulf in front. This is the very spot where the city was born, and at 9:15 in the evening in September, the setting alone is well worth the visit.
The neighborhood is best reached on foot: the area is narrow and pedestrianized, so it is recommended to park beforehand and walk. If you need live parking availability and rates, Enea is available via the central button on the bottom bar.
