What makes it special
Ancient access point of the Castrum of Gaeta, included in a wall that began to take shape during the rule of Hypata Docibile I (867-906). Located on the extreme offshoot of the isthmus, it represented a strategic and defensive site so inaccessible that historians considered it a natural fortress.
