Porta Domnica
What makes it special
Porta Domnica was an ancient entrance to the Castrum of Gaeta, set in the circuit of walls that began to take shape under the rule of the hypatus Docibilis I (867-906). Standing at the very tip of the isthmus, it guarded a strategic, defensive site so hard to reach that historians regarded it as a natural fortress.
