Open the guide pageThe story
At first light the drone circles the Angevin-Aragonese Castle, with the bay and the coast lit by the rising sun.
The castle dates back to the 13th century, when it was built under the Angevin family: Gaeta was a strategic town for control of the Mediterranean, and the castle was meant to defend this commercial and military hub. Today it overlooks Gaeta with its two adjoining fortresses, the Angevin and the Aragonese.
History and visits are on the Castle page.
