UPDATE AT 12:30 PM: TRAFFIC HAS BEEN RESTORED
Get ready to experience a day of great sport and breathtaking views. Today, 15 May 2026, the Giro d’Italia will pass through the Riviera di Ulisse and turn Gaeta into an open-air natural stage.
The “Carovana Rosa” will cross our coastline during the 7th stage (which will depart from Formia at 10:55 to finish on the Blockhaus in Abruzzo), offering television viewers around the world 17 kilometers of pure scenic wonder suspended between the cliffs and the sea.
⏱️ What time will the Giro pass through Gaeta?
The champions are expected to pass through the territory of Gaeta today around 12:00 PM. As this is a road race, the exact timing will depend on the peloton’s average speed, but we strongly recommend securing a spot along the route well in advance to enjoy the atmosphere and the parade of the promotional caravan preceding the cyclists.

🚴 The Route: Italy’s most beautiful 17 km
The riders will arrive from the north, coming from Sperlonga, before traveling through the entire urban and coastal area of Gaeta. Here are the exact streets along the route:
- La Piana di Sant’Agostino and the Seven Beaches: The peloton will emerge from the last tunnel to immerse itself in the breathtaking scenery of the Sant’Agostino cliffs and ride along the entire coastal straight.
- The descent of Via Fontania: One of the most spectacular sections, both technically and for TV broadcast. Every curve will offer a unique view of the blue Tyrrhenian Sea, with Monte Orlando and Montagna Spaccata as the backdrop.
- Lungomare di Serapo (Via Marina): The true crowd gatherer. For about two kilometers, the cyclists will speed alongside the golden beach of Serapo, where the warmest welcome from the spectators is expected.
- Via Firenze and Lungomare Caboto: Leaving Serapo, the group will turn onto Via Firenze to come out on the other side of town, riding along the 7 kilometers of the picturesque Lungomare Caboto past small harbors and shipyards, until reaching the area of Vindicio to cross back into Formia (Viale Unità d’Italia).
📍 The Best Spots to Enjoy the Spectacle
The answer to “where is the best place to stand?” is simple: anywhere! But if you are looking for a specific experience:
- For panoramic photos: Choose the hairpin turns of Via Fontania. The view of the peloton descending with the sea in the background is cover-worthy.
- For a stadium-like atmosphere: Head to Lungomare di Serapo. Here, the proximity to the beach clubs and the wide open spaces will allow for the largest gathering of fans and vibrant colors.
- To witness pure speed: The long straights of Lungomare Caboto and the plain of Sant’Agostino will let you appreciate the sheer power of the peloton riding at full speed.
🚦 Traffic and Road Closures: Ask Enea!
