The Sciusci of Gaeta on 31 December 2026: the New Year’s Eve Street Tradition

On Thursday 31 December 2026, from 17:00 to 21:00, the traditional Sciusci of Gaeta fill the streets of the centre: Corso Cavour, Piazza Sapienza, Piazza Capodanno and Piazza Buonomo. It is the tradition slot in the Favole di Luce 2026-2027 programme, the Gaeta Christmas lights.

What is the Sciuscio

It is Gaeta’s end-of-year tradition: music groups go round the streets, often with home-made instruments, to bring good wishes for the new year. The grand finale of the holidays is in January, with the Calanne dei Sciusci: the 2026 edition (in Italian).
