Campionato Italiano delle Zone FIV 2026 in Gaeta

From 1 to 4 October 2026, the Golfo di Gaeta brings together the fifteen Comitati di Zona (regional zone committees) of the Federazione Italiana Vela. It is the Campionato Italiano delle Zone: not club against club, but territory against territory — Liguria against Sicilia, Garda against Lazio.

Taking to the water are mixed under-25 teams competing in an umpired fleet racing format aboard Match 25 boats: the umpires are on the water making calls on the spot, with no evening protests to resolve ashore. Crews rotate across boats provided by the organisers, ensuring no zone holds a boat-based advantage.

Lazio defends its title at home

There is an extra reason to follow the action from here: the IV Zona FIV, representing Lazio, enters as the defending champion. Having won the title in October 2025 in Desenzano del Garda, away on the lake, this time it defends the national title in its own sea, with Gaeta serving as home waters.

Eight days after the Match Race

The event takes place one week after the Campionato Italiano Match Race, scheduled from 24 to 27 September. Both regattas are organised, on behalf of the Federazione Italiana Vela, by the Sezione Vela della Guardia di Finanza, celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2026, in collaboration with the Comitato IV Zona FIV and Yacht Club Gaeta E.V.S., with the support of the Comune di Gaeta, Base Nautica Flavio Gioia, and Visit Lazio.

Where to watch

The race course is set in the Golfo, right in front of the town; the boats are moored at the Yacht Club Gaeta along Lungomare Caboto. Viewing from the shore is completely free.
