Torre Sant’Agostino
What makes it special
Standing on the plain that shares its name, Torre Sant’Agostino is one of the best-preserved coastal towers in Gaeta’s defence system. Built for lookout and active defence, it communicated visually with the neighbouring towers to signal approaching enemy ships. Its sturdy structure and strategic position made it a vital stronghold, protecting the farmland inland and the nearby stretches of coast from corsair raids.
