Located on the plain of the same name, Torre Sant’Agostino is one of the best-preserved coastal towers in Gaeta’s defense system. Built for sighting and active defense purposes, it communicated visually with neighboring towers to signal the approach of enemy ships. Its sturdy structure and strategic location made it a key bulwark for the security of the agricultural hinterland and adjacent stretches of coast against corsair raids.
