The New Year's Day dip at Serapo, 1 January 2026
The morning of 1 January 2026 at Serapo: the New Year's Day dip crowd runs into the sea, a Gaeta tradition in its 18th edition.
Open the guide pageThe story
In Gaeta the new year begins in the water. On the morning of 1 January 2026 Serapo beach filled up for the New Year's Day dip, now in its eighteenth edition: the drone films the crowd running into the sea and the shoreline from above.
The dip closes Gaeta's New Year celebrations, held in the square among the Favole di Luce lights: a free concert and the midnight toast in Piazza della Libertà, DJs by the sea and, the next morning, the dip at Serapo.
The programme of the next New Year's Eve is on its page, updated as soon as it is announced.
