The Palazzo della Gran Guardia, located in Piazzale Caboto in Gaeta, is a fascinating historic building whose origins are intertwined with the Bourbon dynasty. It was in fact in 1786 that Ferdinand IV, King of Naples and third son of King Charles of Bourbon and Maria Amalia of Saxony, gave the order to complete this work originally commissioned by his father. Its relevance is also evidenced by its presence in the city’s historical memoirs, written by Count Onorato Gaetani of Castelmola.Currently, the palace is the protagonist of a careful restoration work that is finally coming to an end. The final touches to the interior spaces have recently been completed, and the installation of new fixtures has just been completed. However, despite the fact that the work is almost completed, the structure is currently not yet open to the public.
