1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device — computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit it. They are used to remember actions and preferences (such as your chosen language, consent already given, or an open session) so that they do not need to be re-entered each time. Along with cookies, similar technologies such as browser local storage are also included here.

2. The three categories in the banner

Upon your first visit, the banner allows you to choose between three categories. They are exactly these, and nothing else:

• Strictly necessary — essential for the website’s operation and security: navigating between pages, basic features, and remembering the choice you make on the banner itself. They do not require consent and cannot be disabled, because without them the website cannot work.
• Statistical (Analytics) — they tell us in aggregate form how the website is used: which pages are read, and how long visitors stay. They help us understand what to improve. They are only activated if you consent.
• Marketing and profiling — they enable personalized content and tracking for advertising purposes. They are only activated if you consent.

3. Third parties involved

Each provider processes data according to their own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review. If a page embeds external content — for instance a video or a social media feed — that content may set its own cookies, always respecting the choices you made on the banner.

4. How to give, change, and withdraw consent

Upon your first visit, a banner appears allowing you to accept all, reject everything non-essential, or open your preferences and choose category by category. Until you make a choice, statistics and marketing cookies remain off.

Your choice is also sent to Google via Consent Mode: consent to statistical cookies enables traffic measurement, while consent to marketing cookies enables ad storage and ad personalization. Without consent, those features remain disabled.

You can change your mind at any time by reopening your preferences from the link located in the website footer.

5. How to manage cookies from your browser

You can also check and delete cookies through your browser settings — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all have a dedicated section. Please keep in mind that disabling all cookies, including necessary ones, may prevent the website from functioning properly.

6. Photo contest — past edition

During the photo contest, which has now concluded, the dedicated section used specific tracking technologies — technical cookies, local storage, and device fingerprinting — to ensure each vote was unique and prevent any manipulation of the rankings. These were tools strictly necessary to deliver the requested service, and therefore did not require prior consent.

7. Where your data goes and your rights

Data collected through cookies follows the same rules as all other data: it is hosted on servers within the European Union, and any transfers to non-EU providers take place based on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. The rights you can exercise — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and lodging a complaint with the Garante (Italian Data Protection Authority) — are the same as listed in section 10 of the Privacy Policy, and can be exercised by writing to info@scoprigaeta.it.
